(1Th 3:11)

Now may our God and Father Himself, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way to you.

I want to point out a couple of things here. Paul is praying not just to God the Father, the First in the Trinity, but also to the Lord Jesus Christ. For those of you that might have doubts that Jesus is God or think that he might be an angel, you should pay close attention to this verse. Here’s why;

(1) Paul knows better then to worship or pray to any other God;

(Ex 20:3)

“You shall have no other gods before Me.(Ex 20:4)

“You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;(Ex 20:5)

you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,

Paul knows very well the 10 commandments.

(2) Paul had faith that Jesus could direct them back to the Thessalonians, and his faith might have had something to do with the conversation he had with Jesus in Ac 9:6

(Ac 9:6) So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” Then the Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.”

And that is exactly what happened!

(3) In Joh 20:28 Thomas calls Jesus my Lord and my God, and Thomas is not rebuked by Jesus;

(Joh 20:28) And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”

(Joh 20:29)

Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

(4) Paul would not have prayed to an angel;

(Re 22:8) Now I, John, saw and heard these things. And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things.

(Re 22:9)

Then he said to me, “See that you do not do that. For I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren the prophets, and of those who keep the words of this book. Worship God.”It’s really important that we get this! I’m just going to leave us with this for today, and if nothing else stands out to you in the next two verses, let the words through Him stand out and grab you by the heart, because it’s through Him, by Him, and for Him, we are saved. Jesus is the Lord, Jesus is God and we should always pray to Him and through Him!

(Joh 3:16) For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

(Joh 3:17)

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
