In the Trenches 1 Thessalonians 2:9

Posted: October 11, 2010 in 1 Thessalonians

1 Thessalonians 2:9 For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.

What do you think would have happened if Paul had went to them in fine threads and linen? If he was being carried around by a handful of servants, and all this was being paid for by them? Well I suppose a few of them would have followed for a while, at least until they realized that this guy was a fraud and he only wants their money. But Paul didn’t want their money, or anything that would stand in the way of them coming to the Lord. He didn’t want a hint of any un pure motives at all.

No instead Paul went to them and he labored among them, with them and he didn’t just labor, he labored night and day, and with toil. When Paul wasn’t working hard to pay his way, he was working hard to show the way! He was in the trenches with them, working and preaching the gospel.

I believe one of the best places to share the gospel is in the trenches. And it doesn’t matter if your the CEO of a fortune 500 company or a pooper scooper at a park. We’re all sinners, and we all need a Saviour, and we all full short of the glory of God.
